Many of the activities we plan in pre-school promote children's physical development. From a challenging obstacle course to the challenge of pouring their own drink from a jug. Here are just a few examples from this weeks activities... The Chief Medical Officer has recently published a report which advises that 2 and 3 year olds should spend at least 3 hours per day at a variety of physical activities, at any intensity, spread across the day. For 3 year olds at least 1 hour should be of moderate to vigorous intensity. To view the report please follow this Link.

The Pre-School Coffee Morning is not far away and we would like to combine this with a small fundraising event. We are very aware that if your pre-school child has older siblings you are frequently asked for donations, contributions and efforts towards fundraising events; for this reason we select small charities for which small donations could make a big difference. This Coffee Morning we will be collecting for Crackerjacks; a charity which provides ‘respite breaks and specialist equipment to families for children who are differently able’ “Crackerjacks Children’s Trust believes that every child, whatever their needs, has the right to participate fully in their community and to have the same choices, opportunities and experiences as other children, to make local friends, and to access, play, leisure and recreational facilities” ( https://www.crackerjacks.org.uk/ ) The theme for the morning will be Pirate Dressing-up. If your child would like to dress up they are more than welcome. If you do not have a pirate costume we have plenty in the setting and if your child would rather not dress up, or prefers to wear any other costume, that is also welcome. You can find out more about Crackerjacks by following this link: www.crackerjacks.org.uk. or searching the Charities Commission website: www.gov.uk/government/organisations/charity-commission : Crackerjacks Charity no. 1146586 Download your Crackerjacks Pirate Colouring page here: ![]()
We were lucky enough to have beautiful sunshine for our trip to the allotment this week. There was plenty to harvest and the children went home with potatoes, beans, tomatoes and even a little courgette or two. PARENT / CARER - PRE-SCHOOL COMMITTEE REPRESENTATIVES We are currently seeking parents / carers who would like to join our Pre-School Committee. As a member of the committee you will have the opportunity to represent the views of all pre-school children, parents and carers at our Pre-school Committee meetings. The opinions and suggestions given by all pre-school stakeholders are greatly valued and we would very much appreciate two or more parents / carers attending the meetings. Committee meetings take place each term and are attended by Mary Hoare - Chair of the Committee, Joanna Trussler - Pre-school Leader, the Committee Treasurer, the Committee Secretary and any parent / carer representatives. The next Committee meeting is due to be held towards the end of October. If you are interested in joining the Committee please speak to Mrs Trussler.
