The children were very busy in the last few weeks. We have been making Christmas decorations, singing Christmas songs and decorating the pre-school Christmas tree over and over again. We had a wonderful party with lots of fun and games. Happy Christmas to you all.
The children will always find ways to challenge themselves during physical activities... Staff are there to make sure the children are safe, but also give them the space to explore their strengths, assess their own level of adventure and take risks within a safe environment.
It was all hands on deck this week with the return of the big climbing frame. The rules are explained to the children every morning; 'We use two hands for climbing, we do not take toys on the climbing frame and we take turns'. Staff stood close by, allowing the children to take risks within their physical abilities, and learn the skills to master the climbing frame.
In the first few weeks the pre-school staff have been getting to know their Key Children and supporting them to feel happy, safe and secure in the setting. Staff plan activities according to the children's particular interests and needs. The children have been becoming familiar with the new routines and exploring their exciting, new environment.

It is with great regret that we write to inform you that Southdown Methodist Pre-School will be closed from tomorrow (Tuesday 3rd March) to Friday 6th March inclusive.
This closure is due to emergency repairs of the plumbing, which will result in no running water or flushing toilets for the duration of the repair.
We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience that this will cause.
This half term seems to be flying by and we have managed to pack a lot into these last few weeks! Each half term we have a topic which we focus on.
