It has been a week full of making, baking and tasting. On Monday the children made biscuits to take home. On Thursday the air was filled with the delicious smell of pre-school baked pizza which was a huge hit at snack time. The children have also all been busy helping to decorate pre-school and create our new Christmas display board. We have had a couple of lovely trips to the allotment and a parent came and read to us at story time. Thank you so much to our parent volunteers!

We have begun to practice for our Nativity Concert. Here are a selection of some of the songs we will be singing. It would be great if you could practice with the children at home. We use Makaton sign language in the setting to support the children's communication and language development. See if your child can remember any of the signs that we use when singing these songs. Ring Those Bells (Sung to the tune of Now We've Made a Pattern) Ring those bells and wave your arms Ring those bells and wave your arms Ring those bells and wave your arms Christmas time is here Ring those bells and wiggle your fingers Ring those bells and wiggle your fingers Ring those bells and wiggle your fingers Christmas time is here Ring those bells shout Merry Christmas Ring those bells shout Merry Christmas Ring those bells shout Merry Christmas Christmas time is here The Lights on the Tree (sung to the tune of The Wheels on the Bus). The lights on the tree go blink blink blink, blink blink blink, blink blink blink The lights on the tree go blink blink blink, All Christmas day. The presents on the tree go rattle rattle rattle, rattle rattle rattle, rattle rattle rattle, The presents on the tree go rattle rattle rattle All Christmas day The pudding after dinner goes yum yum yum, yum yum yum, yum yum yum, The pudding after dinner goes yum yum yum, All Christmas day The children with the presents say play with me, Play with me, play with me The children with the presents say play with me, All Christmas day Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Twinkle twinkle little star How I wonder what you are Up above the clouds so high Like a diamond in the sky Twinkle twinkle little star How I wonder what you are. Special special special me How I wonder what I’ll be In this world I can be anything I want to be Special special special me How I wonder what I’ll be Away in a Manger Away in a manger, no crib for a bed The little lord Jesus lay down his sweet head, The stars in the bright sky looked down where he lay The little lord Jesus asleep in the hay We Wish you a Merry Christmas We wish you a merry Christmas We wish you a merry Christmas We wish you a merry Christmas And a Happy New Year. Good tidings we bring to you and your kin We wish you a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you to those parents who were able to attend the Coffee Morning this morning. As part of the pre-school's efforts to support home learning and share with you the reasons for much of our continuous provision and many of our planned activities Mrs Birch gave a short talk about the importance of physical activity. We hope those of you able to join us found the talk useful. We will be displaying some of the information from the talk, in the reception area, from next week. We have begun to practice for our Christmas Nativity so apologies if your child starts singing Christmas carols at home before we even reach December! We will be sending you all an email listing the songs we will be singing so you can practice them with your child at home. Here are some highlights from this week. A huge thank you to Lucy from St Albans and Harpenden Drama LLamas who visited pre-school today! Lucy got all the children thoroughly engaged with a wonderful warm up using their voices and bodies. She then used puppets to tell the story of a rainy night when the local firework display was all washed out until Daniel the Dragon saved the day. After the story Lucy got all of the children singing, dancing and moving about retelling the tale. It really was a wonderful experience for all (including the staff!). We were all inspired, had great fun and hope to have Lucy back at Pre-School very soon. |
