The Pre-School Coffee Morning is not far away and we would like to combine this with a small fundraising event.
We are very aware that if your pre-school child has older siblings you are frequently asked for donations, contributions and efforts towards fundraising events; for this reason we select small charities for which small donations could make a big difference.
This Coffee Morning we will be collecting for Crackerjacks; a charity which provides ‘respite breaks and specialist equipment to families for children who are differently able’
“Crackerjacks Children’s Trust believes that every child, whatever their needs, has the right to participate fully in their community and to have the same choices, opportunities and experiences as other children, to make local friends, and to access, play, leisure and recreational facilities” ( https://www.crackerjacks.org.uk/ )
The theme for the morning will be Pirate Dressing-up. If your child would like to dress up they are more than welcome. If you do not have a pirate costume we have plenty in the setting and if your child would rather not dress up, or prefers to wear any other costume, that is also welcome.
You can find out more about Crackerjacks by following this link: www.crackerjacks.org.uk. or searching the Charities Commission website: www.gov.uk/government/organisations/charity-commission : Crackerjacks Charity no. 1146586

We were lucky enough to have beautiful sunshine for our trip to the allotment this week. There was plenty to harvest and the children went home with potatoes, beans, tomatoes and even a little courgette or two.
PARENT / CARER - PRE-SCHOOL COMMITTEE REPRESENTATIVES
We are currently seeking parents / carers who would like to join our Pre-School Committee. As a member of the committee you will have the opportunity to represent the views of all pre-school children, parents and carers at our Pre-school Committee meetings. The opinions and suggestions given by all pre-school stakeholders are greatly valued and we would very much appreciate two or more parents / carers attending the meetings. Committee meetings take place each term and are attended by Mary Hoare - Chair of the Committee, Joanna Trussler - Pre-school Leader, the Committee Treasurer, the Committee Secretary and any parent / carer representatives. The next Committee meeting is due to be held towards the end of October. If you are interested in joining the Committee please speak to Mrs Trussler.
Due to the soggy conditions the pre-school picnic will be in the halls rather than on the common. We look forward to welcoming you from 09:30 onwards,
Over the last couple of weeks the children have had the opportunity to watch the tiny pre-school caterpillars grow and grow until finally we had four butterflies ready for release. Thank you for joining us and we hope you and the children enjoyed watching the butterflies take flight. Here are a few photos of the morning and our Butterfly Song so you can sing along with your child at home.
In the last couple of weeks the topic has been travel, holidays and outings. The children did a wonderful job of creating the elements for our display board. Our very tiny caterpillars arrived in pre-school and we have been watching them grow, change into chrysalis and now they are beginning to hatch. Look out for the email in which we will give details of the butterfly release and where to meet. We have also had visits from the Nursery teachers of local schools who have been popping in to meet all the children that will be moving on in September.
We hope you all have a wonderful half term! Pre-school returns on Monday 3rd June. Here are a few highlights from the last two weeks....
Every half term we practice our fire drill. The children all coped very well today. Mrs Trussler blew a whistle and all of the children lined up at the door. We then walked carefully down the stairs and took the register at the bottom.
Please encourage your child to walk up and down the stairs, holding onto the railings, when you arrive or leave pre-school; this really helps to build their confidence and ability when we need them to do it during our fire drills.
This half term the theme is Colours, Numbers and Shapes. The children did a fantastic job of creating 'Five Little Speckled Frogs' for our display board. We have been singing lots of number songs during the last two weeks and hopefully you are hearing some of them at home too! Here are just a few of the activities that the children have been getting up to so far this term.......
